Blogging Slump

I've been in a blogging slump. Not much inspirational thoughts going through my head, nothing exciting to share. Just my ordinary life, so I think I'll write about that.

I've been doing some reading from Introduction to the Devout Life by St. Francis de Sales. So far, it's been inspirational for me and I'm only in the first couple of chapters! These kinds of books I like to read a little slow so that I can absorb what it's saying to me. I wish I could leave a quote right now, but I can't seem to find the book right now. Gosh, I just have so many books laying around that it must be buried among a book pile! I'm sure I'll find it.

I don't know if I mentioned that I finished knitting a hat for Ryan. I also finished a pair of mittens for Kathryn. Next up are some scarves and some dishcloths.

Yesterday, I took Emily to the park to play and feed the ducks. She just loves the ducks. She wishes we could have a pet duck. I told her that would be cute, but I don't think they make good pets.

I also took Emily to storytime at the library. She/We made a cute Valentine's card. She was quite proud of herself. We enjoy our little outings to the library. Maybe she'll be my bookreader out of all my kids?!

I'm looking forward to this three day weekend. We will be busy. Ryan will be attending a birthday party for one of his school friends. We will also be going to the zoo.

This week has been quite ordinary, but it's been a blessing, too! The ordinariness of life is still an oportunity to live out my vocation, to guide my kids, to practice virtue. It can strengthen me when the not so ordinary times come. Those times when the kids are sick or bickering, the car breaks down, the money is not there for some needed expense, etc. Thank you, Lord for the ordinary times.

You are so correct, Lisa. We absolutely need the ordinary times as well. The Church, in Her wisdom, gives us ordinary times between all the other excitement for us to have a chance to refresh and renew. I am looking forward to a little ordinary time on the Ark, myself!

God Bless,
Jane

Boy, I feel much better... my life is so ordinary and so simple (hence " Tracy's simple life") I imagine anyone looking at my life would find it way too ordinary and even boring.. but to me it is my life and it is what I know and I think it is pretty great and I find that even in the ordinary God is with me and that is what is most important... I enjoy all your posts, even the ones you call ordinary... Blessings to you!

Precious Lisa-
Blogging can be such a pleasure, but it's easy to let it become a job.
Posting often is not an obligation, so if you're out of inspiration, maybe God is calling you out of slavery to the blog.

Some of my favorite bloggers only blog once every week or two, and I like those because it's easier to keep up with them. Each of us has our own rhythm and level of busyness

I totally agree with your statement ..."The ordinariness of life is still an opportunity to live out my vocation, to guide my kids, to practice virtue."

My view is living out my vocation is the first priority and blogging is my social life. It's important to me, but not a necessity. It's a rewarding method to give Glory to God by revealing our Love for Him, and sharing how we live our very ordinary lives In Him.

Ordinary is Good...You can't get much more ordinary than those chosen by Christ to be his disciples...There is a lot to be said for "ordinary". I think that "extraordinary" is a gift that not all of us are called to be, except to those near and dear to us. Just have a blessed ordinary day! Cathy

The book sounds interesting. St. Francis de Sales is one of my favorite saints. Right now I'm reading The Sadness of Christ by St. Thomas More.
